GreaseFit as a Yazio alternative

Yazio is a polished app with a large recipe library and a fasting tracker. This page answers a narrower question: what if you want vitamins, minerals and an ad-free app without paying for a subscription? It also says plainly where Yazio is the better choice.

How this page was checked

Every statement about Yazio on this page was checked against Yazio's own website, help center and app store listings on 9 October 2026, and the sources are listed at the bottom. Plans and prices change, so read it as a snapshot from October 2026. Anything we could not confirm on Yazio's own pages is left out rather than guessed. Everything about GreaseFit is a verified fact.

What you would gain

Vitamins and minerals without a subscription

As of October 2026, Yazio lists detailed vitamin and mineral breakdowns among its PRO features. In GreaseFit, 15 vitamins and minerals plus cholesterol and caffeine are free, scored against EU, US, UK or WHO reference intakes.

No ads, and no ad SDK

As of October 2026, Yazio's Android app carries the Play Store's "Contains ads" label, and an ad-free experience is one of its PRO features. GreaseFit has no advertising SDK in the app at all.

Recipes you build yourself, free

Ingredients, step-by-step instructions with a photo per step, and a serving count that divides the totals. Building recipes by hand is free on every plan.

Detailed strength training

Sets with weight, reps and RPE, plus duration, heart rate and time in each heart-rate zone.

Stored in Amsterdam, made independently

Accounts, logs and photos are stored in Amsterdam under the GDPR. A few services, such as analytics and AI processing, may handle data outside the EU, and the privacy policy names them. No investors, no advertising business.

What you would give up

The honest other half, about GreaseFit itself.

No Yazio importer

On the roadmap

There is no way to bring Yazio history across. Lose It is the only importer today, so moving from Yazio means setting up your regular foods by hand. If you would use a Yazio importer, contact us.

A smaller barcode registry

On the roadmap

A scan searches GreaseFit's own registry of foods people have saved, not a global product database. Missing items you add once, and then they are linked for good.

Steps only from Apple Health or Health Connect

On the roadmap

Nothing else is read and nothing is written back, and there is no Google Fit, so weight or workouts from a watch, ring or scale do not appear.

No watch app or widget

On the roadmap

There is no watch app and no home-screen widget.

No offline logging

On the roadmap

A connection is required to log. Your data lives server-side so it follows you between devices.

No shopping list

On the roadmap

Meal planning is there: plan a day's meals and see the week at a glance. A shopping list is not.

Where Yazio is stronger

From Yazio's own pages, as of October 2026. If these are the reasons you use Yazio, it may well be the better pick for you.

A large recipe library

Yazio advertises more than 3,000 recipes, with full access as part of PRO. In GreaseFit, the recipes are the ones you build or scan yourself.

Intermittent fasting

Yazio has fasting timers with plans such as 16:8, 5:2 and 6:1. Its help center says PRO unlocks all of the fasting plans.

Meal plans and grocery lists

Custom meal plans and unlimited grocery lists are part of Yazio PRO. GreaseFit has no shopping lists.

More devices and syncing

Yazio has an Apple Watch app, and PRO syncs with Fitbit, Samsung Health, Garmin and Polar. GreaseFit reads daily steps only and has no watch app.

Many more app languages

Yazio's App Store listing names 20 languages, German among them. The GreaseFit app is available in five.

How to move from Yazio

There is no Yazio importer, so this is manual. Plan one evening, and most of it is adding the foods you eat every week.

  1. Create a free account and set your macro targets, or run the built-in TDEE calculator for a starting point.
  2. Pick the reference standard you want your vitamins and minerals scored against: EU, US, UK or WHO.
  3. Look back over a few weeks in Yazio and note the foods you log most. For most people that is twenty or thirty items.
  4. Add those foods once. Custom foods take the full micronutrient set, so copy it from the label while you are at it.
  5. Scan barcodes as you unpack your shopping. Anything not in the registry you save once, and it stays linked to that barcode.
  6. Rebuild your two or three regular recipes with a serving count so one portion comes out right.

Who this is actually for

GreaseFit suits you if you want vitamins, minerals and barcode scanning for free, with no ads at all, and you are happy to build your own recipes. If Yazio's recipe library, fasting plans, watch app or German interface are why you use it, staying with Yazio is the honest answer.
